Gilat Satellite Networks’ subsidiary, Gilat To Home Peru, won a three-year, $9.6 million satellite broadband contract with Banco de la Nación, the state bank of Peru. The Company is tasked with ensuring that 320 rural locations can access satellite connectivity via VSAT systems. Gilat will also going to build a disaster recovery site in Chiclayo.
Gilat will use its SkyEdge 2 platform to bring satellite broadband connectivity to Banco de la Nación branches across Peru. SkyEdge 2 includes the WebEnhance VSAT system.
Banco de la Nación’s new partnership with Gilat gives the bank’s customers access to ATM and online banking services even at remote and itinerant branches. Furthermore, the enterprise applications of the Gilat VSAT solution can connect remote offices together no matter the distance.
Furthermore, Gilat has been contracted by Banco de la Nación to create a satellite backup to the bank’s vital data center. Gilat will deploy a disaster recovery site in the northern Peruvian city of Chiclayo. Such a site will ensure continuous satellite broadband connectivity that the bank requires to perform mission critical operations even during emergency outages that disrupt terrestrial systems.
